This week I received the keys for the new studio. It has been a long and exciting wait but now it’s all systems go. If everything goes smoothly, I should be up and running in early March, which is well ahead of schedule.
The first thing to do was let people know what is going into the new unit. After talking to my good friend Nikki Rees, store visualiser for GAP, it was decided that some sort of window graphic would be a great way of advertising the studio and hiding the tools and parts whilst the studio furniture is assembled.
This meant 4 rather large (and expensive) inkjet prints. We chose an image of a Schuller handleless design. The combination of wood grain and gloss white in the image was felt to offer the best balance in contemporary and classic design. It is important that people don’t feel alienated before we open. The plan for Your Space Living is to cater for all tastes and all budgets. At this early stage, we must choose the way we present ourselves carefully. There is no doubt these are extremely difficult economic times and we need to make it clear that we can cater for everyone.
