Its been a couple of weeks since our last blog. It has been a busy time but that’s not an excuse. Hopefully this post will make up for it.
During January, I have been to a couple of shows at the NEC in Birmingham. The first being the Interiors UK 2013 show and the second, the Spring Fair International 2013. It was great to see all the new up and coming designs, as well as new interior products that are being launched into the UK market place.
I had two main objectives at the Interiors UK show – first was to see the new products and styles being launched by SMA. SMA is my Italian based bedroom manufacturer and my second objective was to source a new supplier of breakfast bar stools of high quality and affordable prices. I achieved both.
SMA have a selection of new ranges coming in the UK very soon. From new materials within their sliding and hinged system wardrobes to new design additions for their bed portfolio. It was exciting to see theses developments, as I have been working with SMA for the last three years and their ongoing development is a real inspiration.
I found a fantastic irish based company that specialised in some wonderful bar stools. They have an extensive range but I have decided to show only three different styles in the new studio in Llantwit Major. I will add to the collection when the new ranges come to the UK in June.
On a side note, this same Irish company had a “funky” box system sprayed in a range of colours which can be simply used for drawers or TV units at very affordable prices. These would be ideal bedrooms and living rooms and I can see them becoming very popular in 2013.
It was great to see an area for up and coming new product designers. Giving them a chance to shine is important as they begin their journey into the professional world. I wish I had the same opportunity when I was finishing my design degree. To see new materials and new forms from fresh imagination was fantastic to see. Unfortunately to protect their designs I was unable to take any photographs to show you which was very disappointing. If you have an interest in young, cutting edge design, I recommend you take a look yourself in 2014.
The Spring Fair International 2013 – This is quite something to see. For anyone interested in starting their own business within the interior design industry, this show is a must see. My objective here was to look for potential products to accessorize the design studio. Products ranging from kitchen utensils and clocks to cushions and rugs for living rooms. You name it and you’ll find it at the Spring Fair International. Accessorising studio displays and subsequently the furniture we sell is an important element of the Your Space service. The furniture can look and perform fantastically, but the way you accessorize your chosen room with colour schemes and synergistic is the way to make your home unique to you.
