By the time Zoe and Frankie came to us, their kitchen was beyond repair. The room hadn’t been updated in decades and the previous owners had put the concept of maintenance on the back burner. The result was that Zoe was left with a room that desperately needed work but overwhelmed her with options. Should she knock through to the adjoining room? What about extending out the back? Was there a less disruptive option? What about making the best of the space that was already there? We discussed all the options and explored the financial implications of each. The costs involved in structural modifications were far beyond what Zoe and Frankie wanted to spend. In addition, the disruption that comes with extensive building work wasn’t something that Zoe and her young family wanted to go through. So, we set about creating the best Galley kitchen that Zoe and Frankie hard earned money could buy.
This project involved a huge amount of prep work. The room wasn’t in great shape. Years of low grade DIY had left their mark and layers of historic decoration needed stripping back before we could start making changes in the right direction. Fortunately, Zoe opted for our Ultimate All In Package, which is essentially a turnkey service. This gave Zoe access to a full complement of skilled trades people and a comprehensive Project Management service that left no stone unturned.
The room was given a new floor, walls and ceiling. Hidden beneath the surface was a fresh plumbing solution and up to date electrics, designed to exceed building regulations and future proof the house. With the bare room refreshed and sparkling, we installed an amazing shaker style kitchen. The cabinets were hand made in West Wales to our own specific standards that far exceed what’s available on the High Street and other well known kitchen retailers. The doors and drawers were all solid wood and finished in a luxurious painted lacquer.
The two tone cabinets give the room a complementary contrast that add to the style Zoe was looking for. The tall units in a darker grey look spectacular along the back wall. Adding a real sense of purpose to the functionality they offer. Whilst the base units in light grey help to give the illusion of space that’s enhanced by the large windows that flood the room with sunlight. Our considerate design allowed Zoe to create a fabulous dining area that’s ideal for breakfasts, snack time, homework and craft play that her youngest enjoys so much.
At the other end of the room, we’ve created an understated utility space. This is where you’ll find a selection of up to date appliances that have been integrated for maximum function with minimum intrusion. The results are here for all to see. A stunning Galley Kitchen that meets the needs of a young and busy family that wanted to make the most of their home. Their wish was our command and we loved every minute of it.
