Home office design is a passion for Jo. It’s the speciality she focused on after leaving university. She loves the challenge of maximising functionality and ergonomics, whilst delivering the style that her clients demand. This needed to be an office for two people with differing work requirements. Making sure both were ultimately happy with the result was crucial. Whilst the client’s design brief was relatively open on this project, the ethos was the same. Form, function with stylish beauty. All in a “two seater” package.

This was a return project for Jo after previously transforming the kitchen and two bathrooms of this stunning home near Cowbridge. The previous office was a ‘mish-mash’ of “off the shelf” furniture offering minimal storage, electrical cable chaos and overflowing in-trays. The room was in need of an organisational lift, with a bright and airy feel that would inspire a level of productivity that had been missing.

It was great to have a decent size room to work with. In the past Jo has been asked to create office space out of box bedrooms, under stairs or the corner of kitchens. This time she had a dedicated room of a decent size that just needed to fulfil its promised potential. With two “work from home” people using the space, this office needed to keep everyone happy. That’s not as easy as it sounds. We all work differently and meeting everyone’s specific needs would always be a challenge.

After a full tear down of the room, that included ceiling removal, plumbing and electrical overhaul, plastering, flooring and decorating, we were ready to create a dream home office. The double desk under the window was wrapped on either side with an array of storage options, all tailored to suit our client’s specific requirements. This included open shelves as part of the tall cabinets, as well as illuminated free standing shelves as part of a visually pleasing wall treatment. On the opposite wall you can see a row of base cabinets beneath a row of wall units with integrated under lighting.
