Sometimes we have projects where the client specifically asks for neutrality and practicality. They don’t want cutting edge design and prefer to leave things understated. As a company that craves design challenges in every project, this can be a problem. As it is with all of our projects, everything all comes down to compromise and the desire to fulfil our client’s wishes. This bathroom project is a perfect example.

The neutral tones of the 600mm floor and wall tiles are incredibly practical. The light grey colour and smooth texture is easy to clean, whilst flexible enough to complement a wide variety of all paint colours.

With that in mind, we did push the “design boundaries” a little in the shape of two contrasting feature walls at either end of the room. Above the double ended bath, we’ve installed a gloss blue brick bond tile with a subtle, undulating texture. The plumbing has been built into the all cavity, allowing for a wall mounted tap its separate mixer.

At the other end of the room, we have the walk in shower. The darker grey tiles look great, offering deep contrast to the rest of the room. The two integrated niche recesses are filled with a backdrop of the blue brick tiles, tying the contrasting styles together.

The result is a family bathroom that has scope for a completely different makeover at some time in the future. We love this room and are delighted to have been part of a house renovation that is making a wonderful family extremely happy.
